Istanbul University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center (IU TTM)
Istanbul University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center started its activities with the regulation published in the Resmi Gazete dated 09.09.2013 and numbered 28760. The aim of the center is to increase the number of outsourced projects carried out with in the University. For this purpose, after its establishment, it carries out studies according to its fields of activity. Prof. Dr. Alper Okyar has been serving as the Director since 7.1.2019. Prof. Dr. Okyar has been a member at Faculty of Pharmacy since 2006 and a member of the IU TTM Board of Directors since 2015.
Mission
Technology Transfer Application and Research Center provides support to all academicians of Istanbul University on projects and financial services. In addition, it provides training and information services together with its affiliate " TTO İstanbul Proje Geliştirme ve Yatırım A.Ş". In this context, it serves the goals of being an innovative and developing university. It is an important department of Istanbul University, which is a research university, with its activities.
Vision
IU TTM gathers the science, technology transfer and innovation experience of our University with in the framework of a central structure. It aims to transform knowledge in to new and competitive products or processes, create added value, transfer it to the industry and commercialize it. For this purpose, it enables scientists and industrial companies to benefit from national and international research support programs and grantfunds. It aims to increase the technological, innovation, research and development capabilities of publicand private sector organizations. It acts as an interface in increasing the cooperation of industrial organizations with the University. The center aims to provide entrepreneurship education for university students, faculty and society. While increasing its activities in terms of quality and quantity, it also aims to make it sustainable.
In general, the aim of the Center is to provide technology transfer at individual, institutional, regional, national and international levels and to increase the competitiveness of the country in the international arena. In this context, by creating a culture of technology development and innovation, it is to enrich the knowledge and strengthen the technology developmentability.
Activity areas of TTM
The aim of the center is to increase the number of external projects such as TUBITAK (Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu), İSTKA (İstanbul Kalkınma Ajansı) projects and the number of certified patents. While the Center carries out activities aimed at increasing the number of projects and patent applications, it also monitors the post-application processes. Encouraging the academics of our University in this direction, disseminating entrepreneurship in the University, increasing the entrepreneurial faculty members and establishing the University Industry Cooperation (USIB) are one of the main activities of our Center.
Our Center, which provides all kinds of support to the faculty members of our University in the creation of TUBITAK and ISTKA projects, continues to support the follow-up of the projects after the project is received. Scholarship processes of students working in these projects, especially graduate and doctorate students, are also followed by our Center and one-to-one communication is provided with the relevant people. Apart from project and research transactions, our center also deals with intellectual and industrial property rights. Incoming applications are evaluated by the Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights (FSMH) commission. It supports our university and academicians in supporting scientifically valuable patents and ideas.
Commercialization of the invention / idea is very important in making research and development studies beneficial to the whole world, especially our country. Patents and ideas supported in this context are directed to the Turkish Patent Office and the European Patent Office. Applications are made for international patents and the application follow-upprocess is also carried out by our Center.
IU TTM possess the Medical and Industrial Design Laboratory (TETLAB) which was initially supported with in the scope of the 2015 financial support program of ISTKA. In the unit, medical and industrial 3D designs are carried out and the verification and developmental studies are carried out by producing prototypes through 3D printers.
